The Photography of Owen Perry

The Photographer

CIRCA 1983 is Owen Perry, a Canadian nature photographer and storyteller

This portfolio is a curated selection of images reflecting a body of work 4-5 years in the making. Consisting primarily of landscape photography, the images and narratives are a way to connect with a growing percentage of people living in urban environments, continually distracted and disconnected from the natural world and present moment. By showing people the beauty of our world, we can instill a sense of stewardship; we can teach them to love our collective home, planet earth.

Regarding stylistic traits, the work borrows inspiration from nostalgic qualities of old analogue film and Canadian cultural narratives owed to the Group of Seven, National Film Board of Canada (NFB), Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), and National Geographic.

It’s also heavily influenced by the music of artists like Tycho, Com Truise, Boards of Canada, Deru, Bibio, Benoit Pioulard, Christopher Willits, Loscil, Radiohead, Neil Young, and many others.

The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction.
